HI EVERYONE!
I'm just gonna get right to my "message" for the week :) we have a baptism coming up this saturday, june 18, sister janet agana! im so excited! sister janet is SO amazing! ive never had an investigator progress so quickly and so well. the Lord had and truly is preparing janet for the gospel. before ghouri and i started teaching janet, she was a member of the muslim religion. here, in the pines, the muslim population is pretty big. if any of you know, the muslim religion is pretty "strict" (i dont know what other word to use, tagalog has taken a toll on my english. haha!) religion. so strict that we as missionaries have to be super careful when teaching them. in some cases, the people we teach could be killed for even entertaining us. scary right? lets just say we dont teach a lot of muslims...and if we do, they end up being miracle stories like janet :) i just want to share the experience we had with sister janet yesterday at church.
We were sitting in sunday school class; me, ghouri, janet, the other 2 sisters, and other investigators and members. our teacher asked the investigators in our class what it was that the missionaries helped them learn in our lessons with them. two of our investigators spoke first and then sister janet. she was quiet for a minute and started to bury her face in her hands. i thought she was just being shy and didnt want to answer. but NOPE! i was wrong haha! she was crying and then answered, " because of the sisters i know who God is. i know the he has a plan for me and i know he loves me. i know that the book of mormon is true because i read it and they help me to understand it. because of the sisters, i know the church is true." i smiled, turned to look back at our teacher and saw everyone else in the room crying too :) the spirit was sooooo strong.
It was at that moment i realized just how "real" missionary work is, how real the power of the spirit and the book of mormon are. it was at that moment i realized how much truth lies behind the scripture Moses 1:39 - "for behold, this is my work and my glory- to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man,"
This work is HIS, Christ stands at the helm ready and willing to welcome anyone who will come unto him. i am so excited for sister janet and so extremely grateful the Lord has blessed my life with her :)
Us missionaries have this saying; we all have that special friend that we promised heavenly father we would "find," im pretty sure i've found her! :)
I love you all so much and hope you all have an amazing week! :)
